Key Booklet

This was a booklet made with two switchplate covers as the covers - kit from St. Croix Cropping Company

    Prepare the Covers:
  1. Drill two additional holes at one end of each of the switchplate covers, lining up with the hole that is already there
  2. Trim scrapbook paper to fit, and glue to front cover
  3. Cut an "x" through the paper covering the center rectangle, and fold edges back. (I used masking tape to hold the edges in place until the glue dried.)
  4. Cut a rectangle of scrapbook paper to fit the inside cover.
  5. Mark the opening on the back of the paper and cut out.
  6. Glue to the inside front cover, covering all rough edges.
  7. Repeat for the back cover, but do not cut out the center opening.
  8. Use a sharp object to open up the holes in the ends that were drilled.

    Inside Pages
  9. Cut three pieces of cardstock a little smaller than 4 1/2" x 3" (one olive, one dark red and one pink).
  10. Line up with the holes in the cover and mark pages; use a hole punch to make holes.
  11. Score each piece of cardstock a little to the right of the holes so the piece will fold nicely.
  12. Attach pieces of scrapbook paper to each page, varying the size and alignment.
  13. Ink the edges of the cardstock and decorative paper with olive ink.
  14. Print 5 verses on vellum with red and green ink, tear and ink edges.
  15. Attach one verse to each page with vellum tape.
  16. Glue on embellishments.

    Finishing the Book
  17. Line up front cover, pages and back cover and thread ribbons through the holes, tying in a knot (I used three pieces of ribbon through each hole, varying colors and thickness).
  18. Tie in a knot.
  19. Tie some ribbon to a key charm and with the cover closed (for proper alignment), attach key to first page with glue.
  20. Attach "THE" tag stickers to the top of front cover
  21. Print "to Happiness" on vellum, tear and ink edges, and attach to bottom of front cover.

Love Booklet / Music Booklet

Both booklets were made the same as the switchplate cover booklet above, but instead of using the switchplate, I traced it onto cardboard to use for the front and back covers.

Inside pages were the same except that I used appropriate quotes for the type of book.

Nevaeh's Book (M47)

  1. Cut heavy red cardboard into 5" x 5" squares - make enough for each letter of the recipient's name, including a front and back cover (I used 4 squares for my book)
  2. Punch 5 evenly-spaced holes along the left side using an "anywhere" 1/4" punch
    Cover:
  3. Measure the front cover to determine how large each letter could be and open each letter in PSP 7
  4. Use the "magic wand" to select a section, feather 3 pixels so there are no white spaces, and fill with a color
  5. Repeat until image is colored (Alternately, you can print the unfilled letter and color with markers, chalks, inks, etc.)
  6. Letters were printed on white paper, trimmed and attached to the cover with a glue stick
    Pages:
  7. Open each letter in PSP, size 200, and put two different color borders around each, making finished image around 4 3/4"
  8. Print on white paper and attach to red pages
    Finishing:
  9. Cut 5 lengths of rainbow ribbon and tie each through holes in left side. Don't tie too tightly - be sure pages can be turned.
