Grecian Woman (C6H*)

  1. Cut a piece of wallpaper or decorative paper 8" x 5"
  2. Stamp or Computer generate Greek columns along the top in random pattern, and attach to size H cream card stock
  3. Cut a strip of coordinating wallpaper or decorative paper about 3 3/4" x 8" and tape to bottom of other decorative paper
  4. Stamp or computer generate image of Greek Woman in grey ink on cream textured paper.
  5. Lightly color in image with grey and beige watercolor pencils. Add just a drop of water to blend colors
  6. Layer on square of grey textured paper and attach to card

  7. Stamp column on white clay. Cut around the column and "tear" the bottom edge. Rub with gold rub n' buff.
  8. Tear a piece of white clay and stamp a portion of the column on it. Rub with gold rub n' buff. (It's easier to tear the clay first, then stamp, than to do the other way around).
  9. Bake clay pieces according to manufacturer's directions, and glue to card with E6000. Stamps: I used clip art for card images; Sculpey's Classic Stamplets column stamp. Email me for clip art

    Greek Statue (C7H)

    1. Computer generate the statue clip art on beige card stock; cut out and trim with wide band of gold Krylon market
    2. Computer generate columns, vases and Greek text on size H cream card, and highlight with gold gel pen
    3. Attach a piece of handmade paper to the card with foam dots
    4. Attach statue piece to paper with foam dots Stamps: Email me for clip art, background layout, or Greek font (I typed a phrase into my graphics program and applied the Greek font for the text)



African Grid Tag (C8H)

  1. Corrugate a piece of peach card stock and tape to size H cream speckled card
  2. Computer generate images in brown ink on cream card
  3. Use Grid Technique with brown, orange and yellow ink
  4. Cut into tag shape and tape to rust card, cut a little larger
  5. Punch hole in top of tag and thread cord through. Attach beads and knot cord at the ends
  6. Attach tag to card with foam dots and glue beads to card with E6000 glue
  7. Tape postage stamp to small piece of corrugated rust card and tape to tag

Roman Chariot (C9H)

  1. Computer generate images (or stamp them) on sheet of labels
  2. Brayer with blue and green shades of ink
  3. Stamp writing in blue ink
  4. Carefully remove labels from sheet and attach to turquoise card. (See Labels Technique)
  5. Rub clear embossing ink pad over entire piece and clear emboss. Add a few dabs of gold Pearl-Ex and heat again just to embed Pearl-Ex. (You can repeat but I liked the nubby texture)
  6. Stamp background on size H turquoise card using Homemade foam background stamp (Heated fun foam and pressed into a pile of rock salt). Ink colors - blues and greens)
  7. Cut black card stock and attach to card as shown.
  8. Tape embossed piece at an angle as shown
  9. Outline card with gold Krylon pen

Latin Manuscript (C10H*)

  1. Computer generate Latin text, and image of woman on cream card
  2. Trim Latin text, tear the right edge, and sponge lightly with gold and dark green ink. Rub gold ink pad along torn edge
  3. Cut out woman and outline with gold Krylon pen
  4. Tape text to size H dark green card, and attach woman with foam dots
  5. Tear the edge of the green card, and outline with gold pen
  6. Glue gold decoration in bottom right corner with E6000 glue

    (I did a search on the web for Latin text, copied it into my graphics program, and applied an appropriate font, making the first letter larger.)

Egyptian Tag (C11H)

  1. Stamp 15 shadow squares on size H black card with clear embossing ink and let dry a little
  2. Stipple several shades of gold and copper Pearl-ex on squares.
  3. Wipe card with a tissue to get loose Pearl-Ex off, and let sit overnight
  4. Stamp Egyptian stamps in each square with black ink, and black emboss
  5. Cut gold card in tag shape, punch hold in top, and stamp with King Tut in black ink, then black emboss
  6. String gold cord through tag and thread a few beads on the bottom. Tie cord
  7. Attach tag to card with foam dots and use E-6000 glue to glue beads in place
  8. Squeeze some hot glue onto aluminum foil, ink the "eye" stamp with black and lightly press into glue. Leave stamp there until glue hardens
  9. Rub a little gold Pearl-Ex over glue, and attach to card with foam dots

Aztec Design (C12H)

  1. Cut strips of dark green and dark red card stock different widths and lengths and tape to size H yelow-orange card
  2. Stamp circle design and two side strips on vellum with clear embossing ink
  3. Sprinkle with sticky embossing powder and heat. Attach Fashion Flakes Gold Leaf. Click here for detailed instructions on Gold Leafing
  4. Glue a red faux stone in center of design
  5. Punch holes in 4 corners, curl gold Artistic Wire, and thread through holes
  6. Turn vellum face down and attach foam dot to center. Glue (E6000) wire to vellum
  7. Turn vellum face up and attach to card, weighing down until glue dries

African Mask (C13H)

  1. Stamp size H black card with rows of UM designs in gold ink
  2. Computer generate mask image on beige card stock
  3. Tear the bottoms of black, brown and golden card stock, then trim
  4. Tape all pieces together and attach to card with foam dots
  5. Mask:
    1. Roll a thin piece of copper sculpey clay and cut out oval shape with pointed top and bottom.
    2. Cut out eye and mouth holes
    3. Stamp with UM design stamp
    4. Rub raised portions with gold Pearl-Ex
    5. Bend piece in the middle to shape into mask
    6. Accordion-pleat manila file folder and drape mask over to bake. You want the piece fairly flat so it will attach to card
  6. String 2 beads on cord and tie ends.
  7. Tear small piece of golden card a little larger than mask and tape to black card
  8. Glue end of cord under mask; then glue mask to card using E6000 glue
