Without Books (M68S)

  1. Attach 5" x 3 1/2" patterned paper to the top of a 5 1/2" square card
  2. Attach a piece of striped paper to the bottom of the card
  3. Print quote on bookplate, print on white cardstock, cut out and attach to card with foam tape
  4. Cut a strip of printed cardstock 5 1/2" x 1/2"
  5. Print the "D" Charm on cardstock and fill with Glossy Accents
  6. When dry, cut out and tie onto strip of cardstock; attach to card where the two papers meet
  7. Put a small piece of foam tape on the back fo the charm to keep it straight
  8. Add stick on letters "A" and "D"
  9. Type inside text and print on cardstock
  10. Matt to dark blue, then striped paper and attach to inside
  11. Use chalk to highlight book categories and spray with sealer

Life like a Piano (M74Q)

  1. Cut a piece of pink music paper 5 1/4" x 4"
  2. Cut a small triangle from the same paper and attach to the bottom right corner of the BACK of the paper
  3. Fold the corner to the front and tack to keep it folded
  4. Attach music paper to 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" black card
  5. Cut a small piece of black & white polka dot ribbon, tie in a knot on one end of a 5 1/2" piece of ribbon
  6. Tape ribbon across front of card
  7. In graphics program, add piano silhouette to music paper and print 3" square
  8. Matt to black cardstock and attach to front of card with foam tape
  9. Print text in Broadway font on vellum
  10. Tear and ink edges and attach to top of card with black brads, overlapping piano image
  11. Glue a decorative button to the bottom fold.

    Technique:When I made the piano graphic, I purposely resized the music paper, rather than just select a 3" portion of the original, so that the design would be smaller. I then added the piano and the image gives more contrast than if both music papers had the same size design.

    Note: Inside of card reads "...what you get out of it depends on how you play it!"





Sax (M75Q)

  1. Cut strips of music paper and burgundy cardstock and tape to 5 1/2" square piece of black cardstock as shown (center strip of black is cardstock showing through)
  2. Stitch seams of all pieces
  3. Attach to folded 5 1/2" square black card with brass brads in corners
  4. Print musician clip art with black border (or layer to black cardstock)
  5. Attach piece at an angle to black linen paper with foam tape
  6. Attach to card

Party Animal (M76L)

  1. Make a 9" x 4" card from white or other cardstock
  2. Cut a piece of striped paper and a piece of dotted paper 9" x 2" each and attach to top and bottom of the card
  3. Print "Happy Birthday" in Inspiration font on a piece of white cardstock, leaving space to attach the image, trim to 9" x 1 1/4" and attach to center of card
  4. Print photo of dogs on white cardstock, and trim to 3 1/2" x 2 1/2"
  5. Cut a piece of white cardstock 3 3/4" x 3" and insert two eyelets at top left and bottom right corners
  6. Cut a piece of gold cardstock 4" x 3 3/4"
  7. Layer cardstock and image as shown, tape together, and attach to card with foam tape.

    Technique: The sunglasses were originally hot pink and green, so I used the "change to target" brush in PSP to recolor them



Every Day Lived Well..(M77L)

  1. Make a 9" x 4" card from brown cardstock
  2. Cut a piece of striped paper to cover front of card
  3. Cut a piece of paper 1" x 9", and add stamped or rub-on numbers
  4. Crumble, then straighten paper and attach to left side of card
  5. Print text using Calligrapher and Scriptina fonts and print on the same paper that was used for the numbers (this is for a 60th birthday, so I made sure the 60 showed at the bottom)
  6. Crumple, then straighten, and attach to a black mat with a torn bottom
  7. Ink the torn portion of the black mat with Tea Dye Distress ink
  8. Tie a knot in a piece of dotted ribbon and attach to bottom of text piece
  9. Attach piece to card with foam tape
  10. Put a bronze brad through the top of a clay embellishment and glue to bottom right of card

    Techniques:
    1. Grungy Paper - Filled rectangle with solid color and added Lauren Bavin's Crumpled Overlay2 as a layer, then lowered the opacity. Added a PB Grunge brush for some added texture.
    2. Clay Embellishment - Stamped design on copper clay, then cut out using Sculpey's plastic template. Laid on a piece of black clay, then cut around the black in the same shape, and baked. See Clay Techniques for additional ideas and instructions.


Soar(M78S)

  1. Print text and black border onto white cardstock, trim, and fold into a 5 1/2" square card
  2. Cut a 5 1/4" x 2" piece of striped paper and attach to center
  3. Attach two thin strips of black cardstock and use white stitching rub-on
  4. Mat blue dotted paper to black cardstock, rounding both corners, and attach to card as shown
  5. Mat photo to black cardstock and attach to card with foam tape

    Techniques: The black strips and stitches were part of the template, so I filled the area between them with the striped paper, then printed the entire piece so I didn't have to actually stitch or use rub-ons.
