Striped Birthday (M61S)

  1. Fold dark pink cardstock to 5 1/4" square and attach 5" square of lime cardstock
  2. Print striped paper as described in in Striped Paper Tutorial, and trim to 4 1/2" x 3 3/4" (I left a thin border of white but you can layer to white cardstock if you wish)
  3. Attach to front of card, centering.
  4. Cut three squares of white cardstock to 1 1/4" and layer to three squares of 1 3/8" dark pink cardstock
  5. Attach to card as shown.
  6. Glue hot pink buttons in center of each square.
  7. Tie striped ribbon in a knot and glue to center of buttons.
  8. Computer generate "Happy Birthday" in Curlz font on vellum, tear edges and ink
  9. Attach with vellum tape
  10. Sponge pink ink on a white silk flower and attach to card with a green brad.

Celebrate Time (M62S)

    This card was created digitally and then printed. For digital directions, click here. Following are directions for creating the card traditionally.

  1. Cut brown cardstock into a 5 1/4" square card
  2. You can stamp images in a darker brown on the card, or use streaks of ink to give a grunge look to the background
  3. Print two sheets of clock paper, one in tan and one in brown and cut 4 squares from the tan and 5 squares from the brown.
  4. Attach squares to background card with foam tape for dimension
  5. Stamp "Celebrate" (or any text) at the bottom using white ink
  6. Tie black gingham ribbon around the spine, and tie an extra piece onto the ribbon
  7. I took an old watch face with the glass, removed the back, and put several old watch parts against the glass, then replaced the back to make a "shaker." Glue piece onto card

Friend Loves at all Times (M63S)

  1. Attach 5 1/4" square star paper to 5 1/4" square cardstock (I used digital paper) and ink the edges
  2. Attach a 3 1/4" x 5 1/4" piece of striped paper down the center
  3. Print text on white cardstock, ink edges and matt with red distress paper
  4. Attach to bottom right of card
  5. Cut a circle from the center of a piece of 2 1/2" square red distress cardstock, and attach terra cotta eyelets in each corner
  6. Print watch clip-art on off-white cardstock, ink edges and attach behind red square with foam tape
  7. Tape the piece to the top center of card

Music Touches Feelings (M64Q)

  1. Print text in Dustbowl Clementine font on white cardstock; trim to 2 5/8" x 4"
  2. Cut another piece of white cardstock almost 3" x 4" and attach both pieces side by side, leaving a small border, to a folded 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" black card
  3. Print black decorative paper (or use purchased) a little smaller than 3" x 4" and attach to the left side of card, leaving a thin white border
  4. Print violin clip art on white cardstock, matt to black cardstock, and center on left section, attaching with foam tape
  5. Tie a small piece of dotted ribbon in a knot and glue over top of text

Live Life to the Fullest (M65S)

  1. Cut 7 different complimentary papers into 1 3/4" squares and attach to folded 5 1/2" square black card, leaving a thin border around the edges and between pieces (bottom row only needs one square on the left
  2. Trim writing paper to 5 1/4" wide and tear top edge (right side is about 2 2/14" high, tapering down to 1 1/2" on left side)
  3. Print text on vellum, tear edges and attach to writing piece with copper brads.
  4. Attach writing piece to bottom of card with foam tape
  5. Glue a clay embellishment to top right. Click here for techniques in working with clay.

    Clay Embellishment: Stamp column into copper clay with black ink, and stamp design into clay, pressing harder to make impression. Rub design with gold Pearl-Ex. Trim piece using Sculpey's Shapelets and lay on black clay. Trim black clay along the same shape. Bake according to directions.

Key to Happiness (M66Q)

  1. Print key clip art (or use rubber stamped key) on blue decorative paper, trim and attach to a black 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" card
  2. In a graphics program, use the PSP Grunge brush in blue to "stamp" cross-hatched pattern, and add key clip-art on top. Print on cream paper (you can use a shadow stamp and key rubber stamp for the same effect)
  3. Matt to black cardstock, tearing the bottom edge
  4. Tie gold thread in a knot through a key charm and tie onto another piece of gold thread
  5. Wrap around key piece, and attach to card with foam tape
  6. Print text on vellum, tear edges, lightly ink and attach to card with vellum tape

Train Card (M67Q)

  1. Cut a 3" x 4 1/4" piece of diamond paper, and the same size striped paper
  2. Attach striped paper to a 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" white card
  3. Tear right edge of diamond paper and attach to card
  4. Print train stamp image, matt to dark red cardstock and staple ribbon to top
  5. Attach to card with black photo corners
  6. Glue "Memories" charm in bottom right corner
