Ribbons and Flowers (N76L)

  1. Cut sage cardstock to make a 4" x 8 1/2" card and ink edges with blue
  2. Cut blue decorative paper to 3 3/4" x 8 3/4"
  3. Cut pieces of blue flowered paper as shown and stitch curved edges to blue paper (mine was done digitally - see notes below)
  4. Glue three olive letter buttons to top to spell "MOM"
  5. Sponge three silk flowers with olive ink and attach with blue brads
  6. Punch two holes on each side of center and insert olive eyelets
  7. Tie a blue ribbon through the top set and olive ribbon through the bottom and tie both in a knot
  8. Attach decorated piece to the card

    Images: I created both the blue and flowered paper digitally. I selected the portion of the flowered paper I wanted in the semi-circle shape, and drew white "stitch" lines, then printed on heavy text paper.




Dogwood (N77L)

  1. Print words (joy, comfort, love, mom) on bluish-grey cardstock and cut to 3 1/4" x 7 1/4" - tear bottom edge
  2. Layer to 3 3/4" x 8" blue patterned paper, and then to a 4" x 8 1/2" folded card. I used off-white with textured lines
  3. Print clip art onto 2 1/2" x 3 3/4" white lined cardstock
  4. Layer to 2 5/8" x 4" blue patterned paper
  5. Insert blue eyelet at the top of the dogwood piece and tie sheer white ribbon into a knot
  6. Attach to card with foam tape
  7. Glue "Wisdom" metal charm at top right
  8. Print "Happy Mother's Day" in Punch Label Font on white cardstock, matching color of bluish-grey cardstock.
  9. Trim, layer to white cardstock, and insert white eyelet at each end.
  10. Tie sheer white ribbon through eyelets into a knot, and trim edges of piece to match card
  11. Attach with red-line tape for security.

    Tips:
    Printing words on cardstock - scan cardstock and take note of the RGB (Red-Green-Blue) values. Change the color of your font to several shades darker than the cardstock so the words will look like a Versamark pad.

    Matching font color - use the same RGB values as the cardstock for the Punch Label Font

    Coloring clip art - this clip art image was black and white. I used the Magic Wand to highlight some of the lines, choosing the Select Similar option, and playing with the tolerance until I got only the amount I wanted selected. I left some of the original grey shading which looked much better than coloring the entire piece. I then filled with the matching color.

Colored Leaf (N78Q)

    This is a digital card but can easily be reproduced using cardstock.

  1. Open black and white leaf photo and colorize one leaf as described in the Spot Coloring-Digital Technique.
  2. Print image on photo paper
  3. Cut photo into thirds, and mat to black, then orange cardstock
  4. Tear one strip of red and one strip of yellow cardstock and attach to right side of 5 1/2" x 4 1/2" black card
  5. Attach three photo pieces to card
  6. Using any kind of sticker, spell out "FALL" on top right of card

Sympathy Card (N79Q)

  1. Computer generate text using Scriptina and Snippet fonts on cream cardstock
  2. Cut and fold into a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" card
  3. Cut a piece of embossed vellum and attach to left side of card
  4. Glue green ribbon to cover edge of vellum
  5. Paint butterfly charm and faith charm with gold leafing pen and attach to card

Blue Flowers (N80S)

  1. Make a 5 1/4" square card from any color cardstock
  2. Cut diamond paper 5 1/4" x 3 1/2" and attach to top of card
  3. Cut 3 complimentary papers 1 3/4" square and attach at bottom of card
  4. Attach green ribbon where seams meet
  5. Print flower clip art on watercolor paper
  6. Color with watercolor pencils and blend with Dove Blender
  7. Mat to green cardstock, leaving extra space on the left
  8. Punch 5 holes along the left side and tie ribbons through
  9. Attach piece to card with foam tape

Butterfly Kisses (N81Q)

  1. Print digital striped paper, trim to fit a 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" folded cream card, and cut one end with wave scissors.
  2. Trim the bottom edge of the card with the same scissors, ink the edge with purple, and attach paper
  3. Computer generate text on vellum, tear and ink edges
  4. Attach to card with purple eyelets
  5. Prepare the shrink plastic butterflies (see shrink plastic techniques)
  6. Attach butterflies with tiny pastel brads, adding a drop of glue behind each so they don't move

Photo Trees (N82Q)

  1. Fold tan cardstock to make a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" card
  2. Ink stamp with three shades of brown and stamp on right side of card as shown
  3. Crop photo of trees and colorize to sepia tones; print on white cardstock
  4. Trim picture, leaving a thin white border, and layer to dark brown cardstock
  5. Layer to brown cardstock with torn right edge
  6. Attach to left side of card as shown, leaving a little of the tan card showing on the left
  7. Print "Happy Birthday" on twill tape* and attach to card with brown metallic eyelets
  8. Ink the edges with Walnut Distress Ink

    Stamps: Asparagus Leaf (Time to Stamp)

    *Printing on twill tape: print text on regular text paper, then scotch tape twill over top of the text. Put page back through printer, and your text will print on the twill.
