Life is Not Measured (R135S)

  1. Cut floral paper to 5 1/2" x 4 1/2" and matching striped paper to 4 1/2" x 3"
  2. Tack the striped paper to the floral paper 3/4" from left edge and stitch around entire piece
  3. Stitch using a zig-zag stitch down the right side of the striped piece
  4. Tape to 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" beige card, and glue a strip of lace across the bottom
  5. Print text on light beige cardstock and trim to 1 3/4" x 3 3/4"
  6. Mat to beige textured cardstock and attach a small piece of cardstock punched with a Fiskar's border punch
  7. Attach the text piece to the card with foam tape
  8. Tie peach ribbon in a knot and glue to top right of text piece

    Techniques:*The original paper designed by Josie was for a scrapbook and had large flowers. I selected a small portion, made a seamless tile in PSP, used it as a pattern and filled my image at 25% to get the smaller floral pattern.

 

Dance Like No One is Watching... (R136S)

  1. Make a 5 1/2" square white card and cover with striped paper
  2. Mat ballet clip art to dusty rose, then white cardstock and attach to card with foam tape
  3. Glue a strip of thin pink ribbon across the bottom
  4. Print text on white tag and attach to the bottom of the card with foam tape
  5. Glue a rose to the center of a paper daisy and glue to card
  6. Glue a small flower to the end of the tag

    Technique: I created the striped paper using the colors from the ballet clip art so it would match, and printed on white text paper. I used the eyedropper in my graphics program to select the dusty rose color, filled a rectangle, and printed to use as the mat for the clip art.

Fairy Child (R137S)

  1. Print (or stamp) red text onto a 5 1/4" square piece of light green cardstock
  2. Tear top and bottom edges of a 4 3/4" x 2 3/4" piece of diamond paper, and tape to the bottom portion of the green cardstock
  3. Print fairy child clip art and mat to dark red cardstock on an angle as shown, tearing the bottom of the cardstock
  4. Attach fairy child to green cardstock piece with foam tape
  5. Tie dark red ribbon in a knot and attach to green cardstock piece at an angle, wrapping the ends around the edges and tape to the back
  6. Tape the green cardstock piece to a folded 5 1/2" square olive card
  7. Create an oval frame in a graphics program (click here for a tutorial - first example). Type text and print on white cardstock
  8. Cover the top with Glossy Accents and let dry
  9. Cut out and attach to card with foam tape

    Technique: Using two colors of diamonds (click here for a tutorial), I created the basic paper. I filled the background layer with a lighter green and then added a text brush on that layer, using a darker green.





Child's Heart (R138Q)

    The papers for this card were done digitally, but regular directions are given first
  1. Attach 5 1/2" x 2" piece of green decorative paper to the bottom of a folded 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" card
  2. Attach same size piece of white decorative paper to the top of the card
  3. Attach a strip 5 1/2" x 1" across the center
  4. Stamp or use zig-zag stitching rub-ons across the top and bottom of the center strip, overlapping onto the other papers
  5. Stamp or use swirl rub-on on the top left corner of the card
  6. Print little girl clip art and rub edges with turquoise ink
  7. Mat to dark brown cardstock and attach at an angle to left side
  8. Print "Happy is the person" in brown on white cardstock and trim to a tag shape
  9. Ink edges with turquoise and matt to dark brown cardstock
  10. Attach to top right of card with foam tape
  11. Ink a silk flower with turquoise, insert a turquoise brad through the center, and glue to top of tag

    Technique: (each on separate layer)

    1. Green Paper - recolored Misty Cato's purple linen paper, added white GH Swirly 007 brush and changed the blend mode to overlay. Added "who keeps a child's heart" in GH Halda font, white - merge layers
    2. White Paper: added light green M&M Floral brush on white background. Added swirl in brown at top left-merge layers
    3. Pattern paper: Took a small selection of the green paper and added a lace pattern in brown
    4. I created a 550 x 425 rectangle, and selected portions of my papers, lining them up the way I wanted the finished piece to look like
    5. Added two rows of the digital stitching in brown
    6. Print paper to fit a 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" card
    7. Close off all layers except the lace pattern paper and both rows of stitching - print
    8. Trim any white from the strip of lace pattern paper and line up the stitching with the top white piece and the bottom green piece - attach to card (this last step is optional but adds a bit of texture to the card)


Victorian Shoe (R139Q)

  1. Cut 4 pieces of decorative paper to fit a 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" sage green card, leaving a tiny border around the edges and between the pieces (larger papers are about 2 7/8" square and small papers are 2 7/8" x 1 3/8")
  2. Attach to card as shown
  3. In a graphics program, I added the grungy paper behind the shoe and printed on white cardstock (2 7/8" x 2 1/8")
  4. Mat shoe to sage cardstock and attach photo corners
  5. Ink lace with Distress Ink and attach to card, tying a knot in one end
  6. Add shoe piece to card with foam tape
  7. Insert pink brad into two paper daisies and glue to top corner of shoe (I added foam tape to the opposite side of the flower to keep it raised)

Polka Dot Baby (R140Q)

  1. Attach a 4" x 5 1/4" piece of black glossy cardstock to a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" folded pink card
  2. Attach a 3 1/2" square of pink and black dotted paper to the top portion as shown
  3. Layer a 2 1/2" baby image to 2 5/8" pink mat to 2 3/4" black mat, and attach to the card with foam tape
  4. Tie pink dotted ribbon in a knot and glue to bottom of the card
  5. Print the #1 on a pink scrap of cardstock, cover with a page pebble, and cut out
  6. Glue to bottom of card under the ribbon

Mother's Day (R141Q)

  1. Print "Happy Mother's Day" text in green on white cardstock*
  2. Trim card to 11" x 4 1/2" and fold to make a 5 1/2" x 4 1/2" card
  3. Print baby photo and cut at angle; attach to bottom right of card
  4. Cut embossed floral paper to cover bottom left of card
  5. Attach green dotted ribbon across the card, covering seams
  6. Glue small piece of pink ribbon below the green ribbon, covering only the paper (not the photo)
  7. Layer three silk flowers and attach to card with a green brad

    *To get the correct position for the text, I draw a 5 1/2" x 4 1/2" rectangle in my graphics program and placed the text in the approximate place. I printed on text weight scrap paper and adjusted the text until it was in the proper place, at the proper angle. I then placed a sheet of white cardstock through the printer.
