For my sister's 50th birthday. My niece came up with the idea of using a Fairy Tale as the theme, and the "story" is told by printing on a clip-art scroll. The scroll is colorized, depending on the layout.
Jared
Tear pastel diamond paper and attach to RIGHT LEFT side of 12"x12" green cardstock
Print 16 two-inch photos and space evenly around edges of page
Print ages using Punch Label Font, trim and glue to each photo
Manipulate a photo in Paint Shop Pro, using various filters and effects, and print on watercolor paper
Tear edges and attach to center of layout with foam tape
Print scroll and attach as shown
Scroll reads: Prince Jared was well-beloved by his parents and all who knew him. Our handsome prince was like his father, noble, fun-loving and athletic.
Travel 1 & 2
Tear the bottom of two sheets of map paper and attach each to 12"x12" cream cardstock
Tear 5" pieces (approximately) of map paper and attach toward top of each layout
Sponge all edges with Tea Dye Distress Ink
Print 3 photos 5" x 4" and mat with rust cardstock. Attach two to top of first layout, and one to top of second layout as shown
Print scroll and attach to bottom left of first page with foam tape
Print 3 photos 4 1/2" x 3 " (one of my photos was vertical so I kept the height at 3" to match the others, but made the width only 2 1/2"), and mat with rust cardstock
Attach 1 photo to the bottom of page 1 and two to the bottom of page 2
In a graphics program, draw a 1" x 1" rounded-corner square, line width 5, and duplicate to make 10 squares
Using Mexican dingbat font (from House of Lime), fill 4 squares with Mexican symbols
Fill the other squares with the letters M-E-X-I-C-O in Casablancs Antique font
Print on tan cardstock and cut out
Rub each with clear embossing ink, sprinkle with deep embossing powder, and heat emboss (I only did this once as I liked the "bumpy" look)
Attach squares to layout with foam tape
Print clip-art jazz silhouette on white cardstock, cut out, and attach over photo at top of page 2 with foam tape
Press Gekko stamp into clay, tear edges, and rub with copper Pearl-Ex. Bake according to directions and glue to top of first page.
Print "Arizona" and "New Orleans" on scrap paper, attach twill tape, and put back through printer to print on twill tape
Stitch tape to layouts
Scroll reads: As Good-Will Ambassador for her father, King Albert, Princess Hara traveled to many neighboring Kingdoms. In 1995, she visited the Kingdom of Arizona with friends. In 1999, she and Prince Alan visited the Kingdom of New Orleans, where Jazz is King. She made several trips to the neighboring Kingdom of Mexico, shown here in 2003 with the Dorfmans and in 2005 with Princess Rachel and Prince Jared.
Italy 1
Cut 12"x12" diamond writing paper in half and attach each half to the top of 12"x12" cream cardstock, leaving 1/8" border around edges
Tear 12"x12" fresco decorative paper in half and attach to the bottom of each page
Ink all edges with tea dye distress ink
Print 5 photos, 4 1/2" x 3" and attach along the top of the layouts, cutting the middle photo in half, and attaching half to each page.
Print text on scroll and attach with foam tape to left side of first page
Cut cardstock to frame a 3 1/2" x 5 1/2" photo
Sponge with distress ink, dab with clear embossing ink, and clear emboss three times
Sprinkle on gold embossing powder, leaving the background to show through in a few spots and heat emboss
Heat a section at a time until the gold powder melts, and press the leaf stamp into the frame
Attach photo behind frame and tape to layout
Sponge three Clay Tiles with brown dye ink and cover tops with Glossy Accents. Let dry and glue to bottom left of layout. (The original tiles blend nicely with the layout, while the scan makes them stand out too much). The swirls in the tiles appear when the Glossy Accents moves the ink a little.
Scroll reads: Princess Hara traveled to Europe for the first time in 2005 when she visited the Kingdom of Italy with the Princess Rachel and friends. She enjoyed it so much, that when an opportunity arose the next year, she and Prince Alan took a cruise around the mediterranean, stopping at several Kingdoms, and revisiting Italy.
Italy 2
Follow directions 1-4 from Italy 1
Print two photos, and cut brown cardstock a little larger
Ink the edges of the cardstock with clear embossing ink and sprinkle with gold embossing powder - a light touch is all you want
Attach the photos to the mats with foam tape, and attach to the layout with foam tape (the heating warps the mats a little and it's easier to attach the photos with foam tape, rather than trying to glue them down flat)
Print I-T-A-L-Y in Two Peas Gift font, using brown color, and print on parchment cardstock
Cut out, ink with clear embossing ink and heat emboss (I only used one coat to leave the texture a little bumpy)
Attach to bottom of layout with foam tape.
Here is a photo of both pages together:
