For my sister's 50th birthday. My niece came up with the idea of using a Fairy Tale as the theme, and the "story" is told by printing on a clip-art scroll. The scroll is colorized, depending on the layout.
Friends
Tear decorative diamond paper in half, ink edges and attach to right side of 12" x 12" cream cardstock
Ink the remainder of the cardstock
Arrange complimentary striped paper and cardstock at an angle as shown to act as mats for the two main photos; tape to layout
Print two 5" x 3 3/4" photos, and tape an envelope half to the back of each (this will hold the hidden journaling) - be sure to measure the envelope first.
Put foam tape on the back of photos and attach to layout, over top of mats
Cut 3 blue tags from cardstock, and attach decorative paper to each, inking edges first
Print three "friends" quotes on vellum, tear and ink edges, and attach to tags with vellum tape
Attach dotted ribbon to each tag with a brad and tape to layout
Print two 2" square photos, mat with green, and attach to layout (need to use double-sided tape where the photo overlaps the large photo, and foam tape on the opposite corner)
In a graphics program, draw a 4" x 5 1/2" rectangle
Type a large letter F in Steamer font, and type the friend definition at the bottom in GF Halda font
Print on blue cardstock and cut out the letter with an exacto knife
Tie a ribbon around the piece as shown, and tape a piece of diamond decorative paper to the back
Mat with green cardstock, ink edges, and tape to layout
Glue 3 buttons to right side of stencil letter
Hidden Journaling
My envelope held a 4 1/4" x 3" piece comfortably but I had a lot of journaling, so I drew two 4 1/4" x 6" rectangles in my graphics program and typed my journaling in both boxes.
I printed one rectangle on one side of green cardstock, then turned the paper and put it back through the printer to print the second side. NOTE: You have to move the second box about 1" to the right in order for the two sides to line up properly. I printed a lot of test sheets before I got it to print correctly.
I attached a piece of ribbon with a brad to the top of the piece, folded it and inserted it in the envelope. I pulled it up just a bit to let the name show but you can keep it entirely hidden if you want.
Hair
Cut an 11 1/2" circle from diamond paper
Cut fifteen 1 1/2" photos showing various hairstyles and attach around circle as shown
Print verses from the song "Hair" on vellum and cut into a 6" circle, ink edges
Attach the vellum and pictures to 12" x 12" cream cardstock wtih a green brad
Tape green dotted ribbon in each corner, and add a large and small paper daisy, using a yellow brad
Ink edges of layout with turquoise ink

Cut a 4 1/4" x 3 3/4" piece of cardstock and cover with floral vellum
Cut a piece of green ribbon, fold in half, and glue to top left of vellum piece, adding a silk flower on top

Cut 3 1/4" x 5 1/2" piece from cream cardstock and write or print text on it
Attach 1 1/4" strip of green textured paper to top, and round edges
Attach 1/2" strip of striped paper to top as shown

Family
Tear green decorative paper diagonally and attach to left portion of 12" x 12" cream cardstock

Tape two pieces of black gingham ribbon to layout as shown
Matt photos with black and attach over left ribbon
Create tag (see below), staple ribbon to top and attach over the right ribbon with foam tape
