For my sister's 50th birthday. My niece came up with the idea of using a Fairy Tale as the theme, and the "story" is told by printing on a clip-art scroll. The scroll is colorized, depending on the layout.

Friends

  1. Tear decorative diamond paper in half, ink edges and attach to right side of 12" x 12" cream cardstock
  2. Ink the remainder of the cardstock
  3. Arrange complimentary striped paper and cardstock at an angle as shown to act as mats for the two main photos; tape to layout
  4. Print two 5" x 3 3/4" photos, and tape an envelope half to the back of each (this will hold the hidden journaling) - be sure to measure the envelope first.
  5. Put foam tape on the back of photos and attach to layout, over top of mats
  6. Cut 3 blue tags from cardstock, and attach decorative paper to each, inking edges first
  7. Print three "friends" quotes on vellum, tear and ink edges, and attach to tags with vellum tape
  8. Attach dotted ribbon to each tag with a brad and tape to layout
  9. Print two 2" square photos, mat with green, and attach to layout (need to use double-sided tape where the photo overlaps the large photo, and foam tape on the opposite corner)
  10. In a graphics program, draw a 4" x 5 1/2" rectangle
  11. Type a large letter F in Steamer font, and type the friend definition at the bottom in GF Halda font
  12. Print on blue cardstock and cut out the letter with an exacto knife
  13. Tie a ribbon around the piece as shown, and tape a piece of diamond decorative paper to the back
  14. Mat with green cardstock, ink edges, and tape to layout
  15. Glue 3 buttons to right side of stencil letter
    Hidden Journaling
  16. My envelope held a 4 1/4" x 3" piece comfortably but I had a lot of journaling, so I drew two 4 1/4" x 6" rectangles in my graphics program and typed my journaling in both boxes.
  17. I printed one rectangle on one side of green cardstock, then turned the paper and put it back through the printer to print the second side.
NOTE: You have to move the second box about 1" to the right in order for the two sides to line up properly. I printed a lot of test sheets before I got it to print correctly.
  18. I attached a piece of ribbon with a brad to the top of the piece, folded it and inserted it in the envelope. I pulled it up just a bit to let the name show but you can keep it entirely hidden if you want.

  13. Cut 3 1/4" x 5 1/2" piece from cream cardstock and write or print text on it
  14. Attach 1 1/4" strip of green textured paper to top, and round edges
  15. Attach 1/2" strip of striped paper to top as shown

Family

  1. Tear green decorative paper diagonally and attach to left portion of 12" x 12" cream cardstock
  2. Tear a small corner from decorative paper and attach to top right corner

Tag was created digitally, based on a sample from Valerie Randall. You could cut the tag from decorative paper, attach to cardstock and computer generate the text on a scrap of vellum to give the tag more dimension.
