I created some framed projects using scrapping and digital techniques, so I've created a new section on the web site.

Framed Invitation

Completed project will obviously depend on the frame purchased. I got a wood frame with an 11" x 14" opening and used the cardboard backing as my template.

  1. Trim one piece of 12 x 12 cream ribbed cardstock to 11 x 12 and attach to bottom of cardboard
  2. Trim second piece of cream ribbed cardstock to 11 x 4, tear the bottom edge, and attach to top of cardboard. (This is necessary to cover the 14" height. You can cover the seam with your decorations, or bottom torn paper, but I liked the visible torn seam)
  3. Tear green decorative paper as shown and attach to bottom right of cardboard.
    Invitation:
  1. Measure and cut papers as follows: green pattern paper (1/2" showing); dark green mulberry paper (1/8" showing); embossed pink floral paper (1/2" showing).
  2. Tear the bottoms and attach all pieces with double-sided tape
  3. Tape to the layout, about 1 1/4" from top
    Tag:
  1. Cut a 2 1/2" x 4" piece of cardstock and cover with green decorative paper
  2. Print names on vellum using Scriptina font, and trim vellum to fit tag
  3. Punch a hole through the top, and tie a piece of wide sheer ribbon in a knot
  4. Tie a piece of lace into a knot and glue to the sheer ribbon
  5. Print "Have and to Hold" on cardstock, trim, and glue to ribbon
  6. Glue two silk flowers together, add a brad and glue to bottom left of tag
  7. Attach tag to layout
    Photos:
  1. Convert photos to black and white, use a ragged edged mask to get the "torn" edges, and print on vellum. (If you don't have the ability to add the mask, just tear the finished photos).
  2. Mat to cream cardstock and glue to bottom left of layout
  3. Attach two silk flowers with brads, make a second set, and glue both to photos
    Ribbon:
  1. Measure out enough wide sheer ribbon to stretch across layout and to tie three knots
  2. Tie a knot in the center of the ribbon, and add a key charm with a jump ring to the back of the knot
  3. Attach another jump ring through the first one and glue to the back of the heart (make sure charm is in the proper position).
  4. Glue back of knot to layout, weighing down with something heavy until dry
  5. Tie knots in sides of ribbon, add glue to back of knots and attach to layout

Framed Name

Frame was 14" x 6" and I used the cardboard backing as my template

  1. Print 14" x 3 1/2" pieces of red patterned and yellow patterned papers on legal text paper and attach to cardboard backing. (I trimmed a small piece of the yellow paper off and attached it to the top of the piece).
    Text:
  1. Print verse on vellum, tear and ink the edges
    Embossed Photo Frame
  1. Cut cardstock to frame the photo, leaving about a 1" frame
  2. Sponge with distress ink, dab with clear embossing ink, and clear emboss - repeat three times
  3. Sprinkle on gold embossing powder, leaving the background to show through in a few spots and heat emboss
  4. Heat a section at a time until the gold powder melts, and press the leaf stamp into the frame
Letter Tags: (I created mine digitally, but you can use premade tags, or a template to cut out of decorative paper)
  1. Open a tag template in a graphics program and fill with the yellow decorative paper
  2. Add a burgundy border
  3. Select a small circle at the top of the tag and delete to make the hole
  4. Save as your master, and duplicate file for as many letters as are in the name (I made 5 copies)
  5. Open Anabelle font and using the same burgundy color as the border, type one letter on each tag
  6. Print on white cardstock and cut out each tag
    Assembling and Finishing:
  1. Line up all pieces to see how they fit
  2. Attach the text with vellum tape to the bottom right
  3. Lay out the tags to see how much room you have for the photo. Attach the photo at an angle with double-sided tape, keeping the left and bottom edges off the background
  4. Attach tags with foam tape to add dimension. I attached at different angles and overlapped them a bit
  5. Attach flowers with brads in appropriate places (the silk flowers I had weren't large enough by themselves, so I printed out paper digital flowers and attached the silk flowers on top)

Credits:"Yellow" Digital Paper (Maryann Buchanan) - to make this paper fit the color scheme better, I added a layer, filled with the burgundy color, and changed the Blend Mode to Overlay; Red Digital Paper (Jan Hosford Digital Freebies);Leaf Stamp (All Night Media)
