Memories Clock

Framed Memories Clock

Unframed Memories Clock

My friend purchased a wood-framed shadowbox clock with a beige mat with three openings. There was a clock in the center, and a place on either side of the clock to insert a photo, so instead of a photo, we made "mini-scrapbook" pages instead.

Photo 1

  1. Trace the two openings to determine the size each design needs to be. These openings are approximately 4 1/2" x 3 1/4"
  2. Print Word Art on cream cardstock to fit on the left side
  3. Tear a piece of decorative writing paper and attach to right side
  4. Tie wedding bands with sheer and thin beige ribbon. Insert a thin piece of wire through the back of the ribbon, punch two holes in the cardstock, and put the ends of the wire through, twisting on the reverse side to hold the rings securely.
  5. Put a dot of glue on the back of each ring to secure against the decorative paper.
  6. Ink a small piece of lace with Tea Dye Distress Ink and attach to left side
  7. Ink all edges.

Photo 2

  1. Tear a piece of the decorative writing paper on an angle and attach to left side
  2. Sponge lace with Tea Dye Distress Ink and attach along the diagonal tear
  3. Mat photo with copper cardstock and attach to right side with foam tape
  4. Ink all edges with Tea Dye
  5. Tie thin beige ribbon through heart necklace and use a small gold brad to secure to the cardstock. (Let the ends of the ribbon trail off under the mat). Put a dot of glue on the bottom of the heart to hold it into place
  6. Put copper eyelets into the center of two silk flowers, and glue to top left corner of photo.

Framed Scrapbook Page

I created a scrapbook for my sister, and did a page for each of her children, using 16 photos from birth to current. Click here to see one of the original pages. I then recreated the pages, changing the colors to match my parent's decor, and framed them. Now my parents have a wonderful way of displaying photos of their grandchildren.

Framed Wedding Invitation

  1. Tape two 12x12 pages of lime green cardstock together and cut to 11" x 14" (or whatever size your frame is)
  2. Cut bamboo paper 10 1/2" x 13 1/2", and attach to lime cardstock
  3. Cut 12" circle from the brown grungy paper, trimming the left side along the edge of the page - attach
  4. Cut a 7 1/2" x 9 1/2" piece of orange decorative paper and attach as shown
  5. Cut a small piece of tan grungy paper and attach as shown
  6. Mat invitation with lime cardstock, trim closely, and attach to layout with foam tape
  7. Print "Love," "Cherish," "Trust," and "Honor" on lime cardstock and ink edges. Attach to layout with foam tape
  8. Print photo in sepia, mat to lime cardstock and attach to layout with foam tape
  9. I wasn't able to use a real metal hinge to attach the photo since there was not enough room between the glass of the frame and the page. I printed a digital hinge on photo paper, cut out, inserted copper brads, and glued to the layout, overlapping the photo
  10. Cover two different Making Memories chipboard swirls with Walnut Distressing Ink, and stamp text in copper ink. Spray with acrylic sealer so copper doesn't smear. Glue to layout
  11. Glue a small copper heart to the top right of the photo

Credits: Template - Pretty Swirly (includes swirl) (Sine); Digital Bamboo Paper-Naturl (Kubivet); Digital Orange Paper (recolored) Mini v2 (Kubivet);Digital Brown Gunge Paper (Dyan Cross) Techniques:

    1. This design was created digitally, starting with the Template that I rearranged a bit from 12x12 to 11x14.
    2. Because I printed the brown grungy paper, and my printer does not do wide-format, I printed the circle in two parts, then tore and inked the edge before attaching.
    3. I was able to match the font used on the wedding invitation (Amaze) for the tags, which were also created digitally.
    4. To add a little interest to the photo, I scanned the invitation, then made a PSP brush from the design, and "stamped" it onto the top left corner of the photo before printing.
    5. I scanned a real metal hinge because I really liked the shape.
