Southwest Scene (S9H)

  1. Computer generate Southwest Scene on terra cotta card stock and cut out center portion
  2. Tape to size H turquoise card stock, leaving larger space on right
  3. Marble copper and turquoise Sculpey, flatten, and stamp lizard with black Memories ink. Tear the edges and bake according to directions
  4. Tear edges of small piece of cream textured card. Tape to opening in scene, and glue clay piece on top with E6000 glue
  5. Glue small strip of raffia to right side of card, and glue 3 small turquoise nuggets on top

Pearl-Ex Cactus (S10H)

  1. Stamp cactus on piece of black card stock with clear embossing ink
  2. When ink dries, brush Pearl-Ex powders (I used Copper and two shades of Gold) over image.
  3. Draw sun with embossing pen and brush with Pearl-Ex
  4. Draw small pueblo with embossing pen and brush with Pearl-Ex
  5. Cut paper to size with deckle scissors and trim edge with gold gel pen
  6. Using paper towel, wipe excess Pearl-Ex from card and spray piece with sealer.
  7. Cut grey/green corrugated paper so that it's longer, but thinner than the black piece and attach to size H grey card.
  8. Attach black piece with foam dots
  9. Draw curve and dots on right side with gold gel pen

Wolf (S11H*)

  1. Prepare cream card stock with a faux suede background
  2. Computer generate wolf on faux suede piece, tear the edges, and rub with brown ink pad
  3. Tear a strip of rust card and corrugate; tape to size H beige card
  4. Cut a thin strip of tan card and attach
  5. Attach a piece of dark blue stock
  6. Attach wolf to blue card with foam dots
  7. Thread rawhide through a concho, string with copper pony beads and glue to card with E6000 glue.

Southwest Photo (S12H*)

  1. Computer generate photograph on white card stock - trim to 7 1/4" x 4 1/2"
  2. Cut a piece of rust card stock 8" x 5". Measure in 3/4" all around and cut out a piece approx. 6 1/4" x 3 1/4" from the center - do not cut through the edges
  3. Do the same to the photo and cut out a piece 5 3/4" x 2 1/4"
  4. You now have 4 pieces; a "frame" and a solid piece of rust, and a "frame" and solid piece of the photograph
  5. Layer all pieces to size H medium blue card
  6. Roll out some copper Sculpey and stamp lizard. Rub with gold Pearl-Ex and bake. Glue to card using E6000.
  7. Attach raffia to bear concho, thread with beads and attach to card.

Southwest Postage (S13H*)

  1. Stamp Mexican UM stamps on size H tan card with clear embossing ink
  2. Lightly rub with copper Pearl-Ex and seal with acrylic spray
  3. To make Faux Postage, stamp Magic Window on cream card stock with brown ink and cut out, trimming off the top portion of the window
  4. Mask each individual section and stipple and sponge brown and orange ink
  5. Keeping each section masked, stamp various UM Mexican stamps in brown ink
  6. Write postage amount in each corner with pen
  7. Attach two faux suede paper strips (Faux Suede) to card with tape and glue 4 small turquoise nuggets in corners with E6000 glue
  8. Attach faux postage to card with foam tape
  9. Rub bear concho with clear embossing ink and copper emboss
  10. Thread fibers through concho, and attach concho to card with foam tape

    Stamps: Magic Window (New Generations Crafts); UM Mexican Sheet (The Stampsmith). The Magic Window stamp is shown to the left - this card is a great example of using a stamp in a really different way.

Southwest Pots (S14H)

  1. Fold piece of H size cream card stock in half.
  2. Ink pot stamp with several shades of ink (I used pink, orange and yellow), blending where they meet so there are no definite lines of color).
  3. Stamp toward bottom of card as shown in picture. (Pot second from left was stamped first)
  4. Repeat inking stamps, reversing colors, and using a mask , stamp first pot on the left.
  5. Repeat with other two pots
  6. Sponge lightly around pots with same colors of ink
  7. Cut bottom of card, following the outline of pots and extending to both sides.
  8. Glue some feathers to top of card
  9. Use an eyewire to "string" some beads and glue on top of feathers.
  10. Cut a contrasting piece of card stock to 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" and glue to inside of card.

Southwest Pots-Quick Version (S15Q)

  1. Ink the pot with shades of pink, yellow and coral and stamp at the bottom of a folded cream card
  2. Mask the first pot and stamp another one with slightly different shading
  3. Stipple the same colors on the front of the card
  4. Cut the bottom of the card as shown, following the outline of the pots
  5. Tape a piece of contrasting card stock to the inside front of the card
  6. Glue a feather to the top right corner.
  7. Spread some white glue at the base of the feather and sprinkle on Beadazzles
